The owner of the resort David Dachner and his wife Brenda Dachner have become very close friends as well as partners with Warfighter Scuba. Both David and Brenda have very close family ties to the United States military, both having siblings who have served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. Unfortunately, the brother of Brenda was killed in action (KIA) while serving in Operation Desert Storm. While our hearts mourn with the loss of a warrior his honor and legacy lives on in the hearts of the lives he touched while he was with us. Captain Douglas L. Bradt was a fighter pilot on the EF-111A airframe. The plaque we presented to David and Brenda was done in his honor reading “A special thank you for your support and in recognition of Captain Douglas L. Bradt. Captain Bradt, callsign “Ratchet 75” made the ultimate sacrifice on 14 February 1991 while deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm. In recognition of Captain Bradt’s sacrifice our sincerest condolences for the loss of such an outstanding warrior, Warfighter Scuba would like to thank David and Brenda Dachner for their continued support to veterans. No words can express the gratitude we as fellow veterans have at Captain Bradt’s sacrifice and inspiring service. Fair seas and following winds, we will meet in Valhalla.” To read more about Captain Bradt, please visit this memorial page dedicated to his honor.
The Dachner family and the Grand Roatan Resort has been extremely supportive with donating rooms for our veterans to stay in. We hope to continue our relationship long into the future and continue to work together with the resort and also their nonprofit the Abundant Life Foundation which is doing some great work on Roatan that Warfighter Scuba helps with projects and programs when possible. If you are looking for a classy and beautiful resort to stay at, with exceptional staff and owners who are honest and good people, please visit Grand Roatan Resort, tell them Warfighter Scuba sent you!
